Frequently Asked Questions

How much heat can it take?

It's built as a landing pad for everyday hot cookware - pots, pans, plates, and mugs straight off the stove or out of the oven. Rubber has its limits, so we don't put it in direct flame or under a screaming-hot empty cast iron and leave it; use it the way you'd use any trivet and it'll protect your counter for years.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes. It's rubber, so the dishwasher doesn't bother it. Run it on the top rack, and use the air-dry setting if you have one - rubber and sustained high heat don't mix long-term. Heads up: the Large (16.5") is big, so you may need to lay it flat across the top rack. A wipe with a damp cloth works too.

Is it really made from fire hose?

Yes. It's cut from decommissioned rubber LDH fire hose - the large-diameter supply line that once moved thousands of gallons of water. Retired from service, cleaned, and given a second life in your kitchen.

What size should I get?

Regular (7" x 10") suits mugs, small pots, and single dishes. Large (8.75" x 16.5") handles big pots, sheet pans, casserole dishes, and serving platters. Many people keep a couple of each - grab the 4-piece set and save.

Will it look exactly like the photo?

No two are identical. Real hose carries lettering, scuffs, and color variation from its years in service. That character is the point.
