Everyday Carry Flashlights

A while back we wrote an article that outlined "The Top 10 Things You Should Be Carrying" as part of your EDC (everyday carry). Coming in at Number 4 on that list was a high-quality EDC Flashlight.

Flashlights come in handy so often throughout a day. Whether it's for work, emergencies, finding your way in the dark (what a concept, huh) or those "bump in the night" moments. Here are the current lights that are making their way into our EDC (in no particular order).

Olight S10R Baton III

Our thoughts:
The Olight S10R Baton III is the brightest, smallest and most capable light of the options we're looking at today. But, it is also the most expensive. You really do get a lot from this light though, if you're willing to pay the price.

Olight S10R Baton III Specs:

  • Max Output: 600 Lumens

  • Low Mode: 12 Lumens (33 Hours)
  • Medium Mode: 120 Lumens (160 Mins)
  • High Mode(s): 300-600 Lumens (1.5 – 60 Minutes)

Streamlight "Pen" Lights

Our Thoughts:
If you can find a place to carry a pen, you can easily find a place for the Streamlight pen-type flashlights. There are several models of these lights around these days. If I were buying a brand new one today, I'd go for the Streamlight Microstream USB. The max lumens, runtime, and USB Recharging features are impressive. This light also comes in at the median price point for the ones we're looking at.

Streamlight Microstream USB Specs:

  • Battery Source: USB Rechargeable 1xAAA
  • Max Output: 250 Lumens
  • Weight: 1.2oz
  • Low Mode: 50 Lumens (3.5 Hours)
  • High Mode: 250 Lumens (1.50 Hours)
  • IPX4 Waterproof
  • 31-68m Throw
  • 3.87″ (Length)
  • Available Colors: Coyote, blue, red, black
  • Price: $32

Olight I3T Flashlight

Olight I3T EOS

Our Thoughts:
Like most of the aforementioned Streamlight Pen Lights, the Olight I3T EOS uses a commonly found AAA Battery. It has a fantastic clip that offers standard pocket carry, or reverse carry for hat brims. The max output of this light is plenty for it's compact and carriable size. And it's the most affordable light from this list.

Olight I3T EOS Specs:

  • Battery Source: 1xAAA
  • Max Output: 180 Lumens
  • Weight: 1.45oz
  • Low Mode: 5 Lumens (16 Hours)
  • High Mode: 250 Lumens (21 Minutes)
  • IPX8 Waterproof
  • 12-60m Throw
  • 3.5″ (Length) x 0.59" Diameter
  • Price: $20

Your Favorite EDC Light?

I'd love to own a LOT more EDC Flashlights, but I have to restrain and not buy them all (just like my knife habit). With that said, there's a lot of lights that I haven't tried and I would love to hear more about.

So tell us, what is your favorite EDC Flashlight? Leave a comment down below!
